The chapters in this textbook, developed for post-secondary courses, provide support for the Nature of Environmental Science, Aquatic Systems, and Terrestrial Systems outcomes. Each chapter begins with a brief Case Study to engage students in the material and to provide a real-world context for the study. The well-illustrated text aims to provide fair and balanced viewpoints of controversial issues and decisions pertaining to environmental studies. Subsections of the textbook chapters are summarized, rather than an end-of-chapter summary, to provide a built-in running summary of the content. Each chapter concludes with review questions, a Critical Thinking section and Taking Action suggestions for students to further investigate the topic. This Canadian edition, adapted to provide a Canadian and global perspective on environmental issues, includes some First Nations and Métis content and perspectives. The textbook also includes access to the student website with additional resource materials.--Publisher.
