With the development of a closed oxygen system, scientists have made a significant step towards independence from mother earth. After 2004 a new kind of transfer vehicle, developed in Holland, will transport the supplies astronauts need to survive. This program looks at the technologies required to enable humans to undertake long space missions, including a trip to Mars.
