On the West Coast of Canada, Solomon has developed a special relationship with a large maple tree in his yard. Through the tree, Solomon has learned many things about the life of insects, plants and animals. After a fierce storm topples the maple, Solomon's uncle leads him through the process of creating a mask, which brings to life all of the things that were special to Solomon.
