In this Shakespearean comedy, Shylock is a greedy Jewish moneylender. His daughter, Portia, elopes with Bassanio, who belongs to an anti-Semitic society. Shylock wishes to extract his "pound of flesh" from Antonio, the Merchant of Venice, when he fails to pay the debt. In the end, Shylock renounces his faith and fortune.
