In this retelling of a legend from the First Nations of the Pacific Northwest, a Chief is planning a feast to celebrate his two daughters as they mature into womanhood. Although war is imminent with their enemy, the two sisters ask their father to invite the enemy to a peaceful feast. The enemy warriors and their families attend the feast, war is forgotten and peace and harmony exist forever. The two sisters give birth to Peace and Brotherhood and are immortalized as two mountains. The original text of this book is excerpted from E. Pauline Johnson's classic composition, Legends of Vancouver.--Ministry of Education website.
