Proud to be Metis is a collection of lyrical poems and songs written by David Bouchard. Each poem is about a Métis person from the past or present. Bouchard writes from a first-person perspective to recounts parts of the lives of people such as Riel, Dumont, Potts, and others. The poems describe events such as the loss of land and the need to resist the Canadian Government's injustices. A free audio download is available from the publisher’s website. The language of the recording is a mixture of English, French and Michif, while two versions of the text appear in the book, one that resembles the recording and the other in English.--Ministry of Education website.
