A foundling is left in the woods. Discovered by a large lizard, the foundling is taken home and grows up to be a pampered, pretty, and useless young woman named Isabella. Her adoptive mother, a witch in disguise, tries to give Isabella reality checks. Isabella, however, plans to marry Prince Rupert because he can offer her a life of ease. To teach Isabella a lesson, her mother transforms Isabella's head into a goat's head. Prince Rupert cannot marry a woman with a goat's head. He devises various tests for Isabella to pass. In turn, Isabella learns to become a self-reliant individual who turns the tables on Prince Rupert.
