Each of the six units in this textbook is centered around a Spanish-speaking geographical region and begins with an overview and ends with review exercises and suggested activities. Cultural references can be found within every lesson. The vocabulary covered includes describing self, friends, places and daily routines, nature and camping, at the beach, volunteering, media, environmental concerns, social awareness, professions, part-time jobs and pursuing a career, emotions, travel, computers, leisure activities, in the neighbourhood, traveling by train, planning for the future, school events and activities and discussing literature and plays. Some of the topics included within the integrated grammar lessons are: pronouns with commands, impersonal expressions and the infinitive, past participles as adjectives, si clauses and tense sequence, as well as verbs in the present, preterite, imperfect, future, subjunctive, conditional, present perfect and past progressive tenses.
