Lessons for Algebraic Thinking fosters the development of algebraic thinking. Each chapter is organized into several sections: an overview of the lesson, the background of the mathematics fundamental to the lesson, a list of vocabulary terms, a detailed procedure, the required materials and samples of students work. A foundation for algebraic thinking is developed through activities focused on the creation and recognition of numerical and geometric patterns.
